SU Tours

Welcome to SU Tours!

This page is designed and managed by me  just for you :)   These pictures are in chronological order that let you see the whole tour from your computer!  Now although there is nothing like coming to SU and seeing it for yourself – but this is one step closer.  On my next page for Prospective Students – you will find some short videos of prospective students at the end of the tour.  So check it out and see why other students want to be here at SU!

Owings Mills Campus

The tour starts at Garrison Hall, Admissions with their tour guide: Chelsea Gray.

Through this door are the classrooms in Garrison Hall.

Next the group ventures to the Business Center.

Our Courtroom is one of our premier spots in the Business Center.  It’s built with a full judges chamber, jury seats, panel seats, and is used to great advantage by Para-Legal majors, among others.

Next is the business library, which holds numerous reference and business books.  It also has a computer lab that is open 24/5!

Next stop – Caves Complex and Wellness Center.  Previously known as the Ravens football training camp. (Pretty cool, huh?).  The Wellness Center offers free counseling and for a small fee will run medical procedures such as a strep test or wrap a sprain.  Caves also offers some classrooms where basic math, english, and history classes can be taken.  It also offers the dome, the racquetball room, and the fitness center.

 Up the hill we go!

Avalon is where Residence Life and our cafe’ Jazzman’s is.  It also holds security, student mailboxes, and fun things to do.  The big screen room is by far the most popular as well as our common area which has comfy couches, pingpong, and fuseball.

These are the apartments: for juniors and seniors.  Sorry freshman and sophmores!  You’ll be living in the suites…

 Welcome to.. The Suites :)

First Stop: The Laundry Room.  This is the laundry room of Susquehanna, and living in this building – I know first hand that is it never this dirty.  People are VERY respectful of others clothing.  Each student gets $500 dollars to do laundry.  You can check the time on your washer and dryer through the Stevenson website, under Esuds.  It also lets you know when the washers and dryers are available for use.

Second Stop:  The dorm :) .  This picture shows the bigger of the two rooms, the A room.  Two people generally live in an A room, but there are times when three people will live in an A room if the other suite is filled with an RA.

This is a B room of an RA, which means only one person is living in the room.  I currently do not have a roommate so it does happen – but expect a roommate :) .  The B room is a little smaller, so it takes creativity to get everything set up.  Bunk beds are very common in the B rooms.  I’ll post more pictures of the suites so you can get a better idea.

This is the sink area in the suites.  On one side is the toilet room and on the other side is the shower room.

When you leave the suites, you’ll pass the brand new Sand Volleyball court.  Built this year, it got plenty of action in the fall – and it gives us a beachy feel. ;)

This is where your tour will end at the Owings Mills campus – the Welcome Desk, ran by the Mustang Crew located in Rockland Marketplace.

And if you’re hungry – you can gather round in Rockland!

Greenspring Campus

The tour began with a quick look at the new art exhibit – “An Overgrown Path.”

We travel down the hallway in the Academic Center which holds the Registrar office, the photography lab, and a computer lab, among other things.

The beloved Registrar’s office will deal with many of your scheduling/registration needs and concerns, never be afraid to contact them about something.

On our way out of the Academic Center, we passed one of many news stands, holding the university’s paper – The Villager.  It renews approximately every 2 weeks and keeps everyone up-to-date with what’s going on at SU.  Not to mention it’s a fun and easy read.

Academic Support is located in the Student Union past the Registrar’s office.  They are also very helpful in academic crises.

This is the Student Union (the building I’ve been referring to).   A lot of academic classes are located throughout the building; as well as – the theatre, the photography lab, and academic support offices.

Off we go to the Library, with our tour guide Chelsea :)

The Library is the place to go if you are in need of some serious quiet time, or materials for a project.  Unlike the library on the Owings Mills campus, this library located on the Greenspring Campus holds all the old school books, films, and materials needed for things such as projects and research papers.

Every time I see this thing it reminds me of a big shiny coin, just sitting on the wall outside President Manning’s office.

And we’re off to the other side of campus.

This would be Chelsea inside the Student Solution Center….  It holds offices such as Human Resources, which is helpful when you get an on-campus job or need help with work-study questions.

  Up the stairs we go!

…is extremely amazing to say the least.  Say you’re sick and you missed your Math test – your Math teacher can put your test into the Academic Link for up to a week, and you can go in and take it when you’re available.  Not to mention, it’s a GREAT place to study.  AND – (double bonus), students get scholarship hours for going in to study.  Cool right?  You can also get tutored for that Math test in the AL, if needed.  Also, with the inspirational quote on the back wall from President Manning, you’ll want to work a little harder and need that extra quiet time.

Career HQ is the registered trademarked career service center here at Stevenson.  They help students find internships and jobs, provide tools to help build basic resume’ and interviewing skills, and pretty much anything else career wise you need assistance with.  Word around the town is – their mock interviews are excellent, and really help train you for the real thing!  Not only is this service offered to students, but as long as you were once a student – you have access to Career HQ for LIFE!!  That’s right – you could be 80 years old and need assistance… They’ll still be there to help you!  Pretty sweet deal, I know.

The Verizon Center is not what you think it is.  You can’t watch your favorite bands rock out, but you can expect medical assistance – learning and growth.  The Verizon Center is the heart of our nursing program.  Set up as a mock hospital – the v.c. helps nursing students learn the criteria needed to successfully fill their occupational duties in the future.

This is the SU Gym.  As you can see – an intense game of volleyball was taking place, and I couldn’t really take a closer look for y’all.

Ahhh The Bookstore.  This is where you will be spending hundreds of dollars on books, clothes, and other merchandise throughout your years.  Around December, they do have a sale on certain items – that is if you can wait for all the sweet stuff.

The last stop on the tour – The Student Union, aka the eats.  You can tell it’s not a school day – because it’s NEVER empty!! The Union cafeteria sells anything you like, with Subconnection also downstairs beside the bookstore.  From my personal opinion – best chicken tenders ever… EVER.

Thank You for taking my SU Tour :)

Looking in from Cody, Wyoming: Loved this informative tour — Great Job! It makes things more real to me — all so different than in my youth. What a great learning experience SU offers in a well designed environment.

The words of inspiration on the wall breathe life into the life expanding and educational experience at SU — very powerful and something the alumni through the years will certainly reflect upon.

Proud of you Marina for pulling this tour together for SU -
Love – MamMaw
