One of the coolest things about the location of Stevenson University is it’s easy access to other parts of central Maryland.  We are within 30 minutes of 5 different malls!  Of course, being the avid shopper I am, I have ventured to all of them multiple times for many different reasons.  But today was different.  Today I went shopping for Mother’s Day – and I knew the exact mall that I wanted to visit – the White Marsh Mall is one of my favorites and is unique in it’s own way.  So I got in Betsy and took the 30 minute drive out to White Marsh and discovered that the White Marsh Mall is home to the best candy shop in the world – Wockenfuss candies.  Tylor’s mother obsesses over their candy apples and hasn’t had one in years – so we got her one!  I know, how sweet (no pun intended, of course).  So if you are ever in need of some serious shopping and some delicious gourmet candies, White Marsh Mall is your stop!

Tonight was the leadership banquet here at Stevenson University.  Leaders and advisors from different organizations across campus came together to celebrate the past year here at the university.  We ate a wonderful dinner and went through series of awards from leaders of the year to programs of the year.  I was actually nominated for New RA of the Year.  Although I didn’t win the award, I was still honored to be apart of the leadership banquet and can’t wait until next year.  The theme for this year was Out of This World – the decorations were so cute and I got the coolest water bottle!  Woot!  Anyway, congratulations to all that won awards and the nominees.  Here at Stevenson, we have a community of leaders.

That, my friends, is the biggest television screen I have ever seen in my entire life.  And yes, it is outside in the suites quad here at Stevenson! Pretty cool, huh?  I think so! This very large t.v. took over two hours to set-up and drew quite the crowd later in the warm spring evening after the sun went down at 9 p.m.  What movie did we see?  When In Rome – and it was so cute!  If you missed this awesome event, drive to your nearest red box and rent a movie to watch.  It won’t be nearly the same, but it’s worth a shot!

Remember the really awesome event I wrote about a couple weeks ago?  Well tonight it finally came and I had a blast at the Splash Bash!  First, I went over to the t-shirt station and tye died my very own splash bash shirt!  They had green, blue, red, purple, and pink – oh it was so exciting!  I took my shirt and put it in my room so no one would take it, then walked back out to get some free Rita’s italian ice – mango flavored to be more specific.  It was the perfect treat for such a humid and sticky night.  Nevertheless, I stayed outside and watched residents have water balloon fights and run down the slip and slide.  I also had the opportunity to vote for the RHA executive board – which I am already a part of.  It was so much fun – if you missed it, the splash bash is now an annual event put on by RHA and all of the hall councils on campus.  Can’t wait til next year!

Cinco de mayo is a festive celebration anything but short of traditional Mexican fiesta anad at Stevenson University, it is full of amazing food.  Growing up, and even now, mexican food has been my favorite so any chance Rockland gets to serve me my favorite meal, I make sure I am there!  And today we all celebrated Cinco de Mayo with taco’s, quesadilla’s, and churro’s!  What a delicious lunch!

Ice cream is the best, there is no doubt about it. Free ice cream is even better. But doesn’t it get old sometimes when you go to an event and you actually have to do something to get your free goodies? Not this time boys and girls! Tonight, the western run hall council gave away free ice cream to their residents for winning the hall council canned food drive! So yes, for once there was free ice cream with all the toppings with no strings attached. Enjoy  

For those students who never check your email and never know what’s going on, this blog is for you! Many of us have noticed the cones placed around the resident halls in slightly inconvienent spaces. It is important that you do not move them so you can park your car and walk less. The cones are marking off where the dumpsters are going for move out! Yes, summer is practically here! So, do not move the cones and be grateful the dumpsters are more convienent for moving out this next week. 

On my way out from dinner I became curious about this huge board sitting in the lobby with sparkly big letters that caught my eye. So I walked over and quickly realized that it was for the sga elections! Of course I planned on voting because it is important, but here was my chance! I won’t tell you who I voted for, but make sure you get your vote in before 7 pm on Wednesday! Remember, every vote counts! 

Are you a breakfast lover like me? Then tonight would have been your night to dine in using that dwindling meal plan at Rockland. My friend Ashleigh and I went in for dinner tonight, as always, and smelt the aroma of freshly made omelets. Could it be? We thought it was a dream! But now dream here mustangs, I ate my beloved tater tots and sausage and eggs for dinner! Oh, and don’t forget the soft French toast sticks! Yummy!!!! What a wonderful night in Rockland!
