Loved your blog about the zoo. Zoo trips can be so relaxing and such fun — so glad you went. We have lots and lots of prairie dogs here in the West, even what is referred to as “towns” of them! Wyoming also has another interesting animal you should look up: the black-footed ferret. This animal was thought to be extinct but was found here several years ago about 30 miles from Cody in a little place called Meeteetsee, WY. Since then, pairs have been captured and transplanted in other areas of WY as well as some other western states to start new colonies, and so far they are thriving.

Oh my — what snow you’ve had — and more to come today! It reminds me of interior Alaska EXCEPT up there the temperature stayed day and night at 50 below zero and we couldn’t see the sun as it didn’t come up high enough from the horizon to make it over the mountains. So this time of yr. winter “daylight” was like your dusk — dark gray then black… real black.
Get in your supplies again and hunker down — I see this next storm may be a big dump too.
It is 4 degrees here in Yellowstone country today with only a skiff of snow on the ground. You have WAY MORE this year in accummulation than we’ve had so far.
