Stevenson University Announces New Sport Management Track in Business Administration
The new Sport Management track will prepare students for successful careers in the management and marketing of athletic programs and teams. The track is also geared for those students who seek to oversee and operate recreational management programs for resorts, municipalities, and park services as well as for those who want to own a sport- or fitness-related business or manage athletic training facilities. In addition to core business administration courses, the track will offer courses in the economics of sports, sports law, sport management, and sports marketing. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to the real world of work through internships. Currently, Stevenson students have options to intern with such professional athletic organizations as the Baltimore Orioles, Aberdeen IronBirds, and Bowie Baysox. as well as with companies such as Brick Bodies/Lynne Brick’s and East Coast Social Sports.
“Our Sport Management program extends beyond students interested in the management of professional or collegiate athletic programs,” said Deborah Leather, Chair of the Department of Business Administration. “The track is also perfect for those who envision careers in K-12 schools, in the growing fitness and exercise industry, or in sport-related businesses such as clothing and other products.”
