President’s Celebration 2010 April 10, 2010

Every year accepted students are honored at the one and only President’s Celebration.  Accepted students bring their friends and families to spend the day at SU while attending info sessions, eating great food (such as yummy crab dip), touring the residence halls, picking up free goodies, and leaving with a sense of Mustang Pride.  This year, I was not a guest at the President’s Celebration – but I got to do some pretty cool behind the scene stuff like set-up for the students’ arrival on the Owings Mills campus and give personal tours through Western Run!  I also got a glimpse of the cake before anyone else!  Check it out:

And yes, it was delicious after a long day of giving tours!  But before the tours began, all of us resident assistants got together and tied balloons of yellow, green, and white all over campus and anxiously awaited the arrival of the accepted students!  After all the balloons were out, we ate the best boxed lunches in the world and went back to Ratcliffe to be trained on giving tours through the residence halls.  However, while walking through the door, we all noticed the hundreds of neatly folded shirts laying on tables for the accepted students!  They were extra cool this year because “Class of 2014″ was embroidered into the shirts! Here is a picture of the shirts lined up!

I hope the students love their t-shirts!  (I know we sure did!).  Once the training was finished and we were done trying to count the shirts, we moved onto our assigned residence hall where we would be giving tours.  However, while walking back to Western Run, a few of us noticed something a little off.  A swimming pool?  On the volleyball court?  It’s true!  In light of the President’s celebration, a few f our current students took the iniative to throw a celebration of their own which included a pool, sun tanning, and playing all types of games in the quad!  Here is a picture of my new friend, sun bathing by his pool.

He looks so comfortable!  However, we all had a job to do so we scurried off to our buildings.  As soon as the clock struck 3, hundreds of people began to come through the residence halls in need of tours!  Surprisingly enough, a lot of the people attending had never been given a tour of the residence halls!  So, as trained professionals, Ashleigh and I paired up and gave as many tours as we possibly could!  All of the accepted students and their families were so awesome and I cannot wait to RA some of them next year!  But for now, my job is done and President’s Celebration was a blast!  Here is a picture of Ashleigh and I before giving tours :]  By the way, Congratulations to the Class of 2014 and Welcome to Stevenson University.
