Take a Break! December 6, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Winter 2009-2010 , add a commentTomorrow officially starts finals week. Right around now, students are going to be staying up late to cram for their big exams, some of them even being tomorrow. So, in preparation for students’ over-frying their brains, MAP and Residence Life held two separate events supporting breaks from studying!

What could be better than a massage? From 5-9, MAP held an event in the Ratcliffe TV Lounge entitled Milk, Cookies, and Massages. They had professionals come in to treat our very stressed out students, and then fed them some delicious cookies which were put down with some ice cold milk.
Residence Life staff 102 from Western Run also held an event in Ratcliffe tonight. Staff members brought pies, eggnog, playdough, coloring books, spongebob, and much more! This gave students a chance to relax with friends while enjoying some delicious homemade pumpkin pie. Students were laughing and relaxing – something they weren’t doing before while studying. Studies have also showed that coloring in a coloring book can relieve stress, way to go ResLife!

Around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, Stevenson University got it’s second (first REAL) snow of the Winter Season! Now all we have to do is wait and pray for snow on Christmas!
Shopping Stress – Relieved! December 6, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fall 2009 , add a commentDo you feel extremely overwhelmed going Christmas shopping? All the gifts, sales, and money issues got you down? Well here are a few tips to making the last-minute shopping trips stress free.
1. Don’t wait til the last minute! Waiting causes more stress and will cause you to spend more money on less sentimental gifts.
2. Order online! Most places offer free-shipping and standard shipping is available for another week to ensure your gifts arriving by or on December 24. No lines, no tax, no hassle!
3. Make a list of the things you NEED to buy. Buy the most important gifts first, then you have time to shop for the less important/less stressful. Making a list will keep you organized and focused. Also, try taking note as to where the gifts are from and how much they cost.
4. Create a budget! Overspending will definitely stress you out! Set a limit for each person on your list and follow your budget according to plan.
5. Go with a friend! Walking, talking, and shopping is a lot to do by yourself. Take a friend or sibling with you to pick out those perfect gifts. You can never go wrong with a second opinion!
6. Buy gift cards LAST. Gift cards will always be in stock. So save your money and get gift cards last for the people who want them.
7. Read the paper! The paper holds VALUABLE sale ads that also contain coupons at time. Everyone could afford to save money in this economy!
Happy Shopping!
