Over the years, I have been on many road trips.  However, the most interesting of all was the 2009 Stevenson University CAACURH Delegation roadtrip.  Comprised of various officers within the Hall Council and RHA communities, six of us (including our advisor Curtis Spencer) made the long 4.5 hour car ride to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!!!  Check out my favorite pic from the back seat view!

This is Alex Weis, the Western Run Hall Council President… asleep.

On Friday the 13th, students from the various Freshman Seminar classes competed in the annual Lego Challenge .  The students were asked as a class to design and follow through with a building concept with the theme being Career Architecture.  The winning class earned bragging rights and a big hooray from the rest of the contestants.  With the classes being so competitive this year, the judges were hesistant to make a decision.  The winning design was built by a Business Communications Freshman Seminar class.  Way to go guys!

at Stevenson University?

It could happen?  Today in the Student Union, student gathered around a table sitting near the door ways around 12:15 waiting to sign a banner that will be sent to Mrs. Michelle Obama herself.  Participants received a free t-shirt, cake, ice cream, and a picture with her cut-out!  You can bet I was there!  Our hopes are to have Michelle Obama speak at the 2010 commencement ceremony for our graduating seniors.  So cross your fingers SU!

Support Our Veterans November 11, 2009

Stevenson University does!

Walking around campus today, one would be able to see banners saying “Stevenson University Salutes Our Veterans.”  But not only are there banners, there are yellow ribbons tied around the light poles around campus as well as American Flags stuck in the ground down the hill to Caves.

If you are a veteran or you know someone who is, salute them.  Veterans Day is an important part of this Nations pride and we owe them our up most respect and gratuity.  Personally, my grandfather fought in World War II.  Although he passed when I was a baby, I will never forget him or his service to his country.  So if you see a veteran any day, especially today, extend your hearts and give a simple “thank you.”  It’ll mean more to them than you or I will ever know.

God Bless America.

Yesterday, various organizations around SU held a government and non-profit career fair.  Career Fairs are not only important when trying to gain valuable knowledge about the workforce, but they can also be helpful.  It is not uncommon for college students to attend these fairs at their own colleges and recieve job offers!!  So, how awesome would it be to put on a nice outfit, walk upstairs into Rockland, and land a sweet job?  IT CAN HAPPEN!  next time a career fair comes around, you can bet your bottom dollar I will be there… again.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a TV IN ROCKLAND!

Unfortunately boys and girls, this does not mean we can watch the Raven’s games in Rockland on Monday nights.  However, if you are looking for something to do – check out the TVs! Just like on the Greenspring campus, the TVs in Rockland were set-up to provide us students with the 411.  Meaning, if you are bored and have nothing to do, watch the TVs for upcoming events!!!

As some of you may have noticed already, the sand volleyball court is now closed for the season.  But don’t worry, it’ll be uncovered before you know it! Not to mention, if you are really itching to play some volleyball, you don’t need a court!  Gather a bunch of friends, draw some lines and go!
