On September 29, the Western Run Residence Life staff held an event in the Western Run lobby dedicated towards feeding the needy. Participants were asked to make as many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as they could in five minutes. The record at the end of the night was 10 sandwiches – and I think she broke a sweat with those numbers!! In total, the staff and participants made over 90 sandwiches to be donated to Our Daily Bread the following morning. Although at the end of the night we were sticking and icky, it was well worth it. Sandwiches were judged based on appearance and number totals. Winners won gift cards and a set of peanut butter and jelly.
Where Did Avalon Go?? September 30, 2009

Avalon didn’t go anywhere – the community center just recieved an update. As most students saw, the center was closed down yesterday for the beginning of the name change (official on Founder’s Day) and for a good old fashioned cleaning. The Avalon Community Center will be changing it’s name to the Ratcliffe Community Center, named after Donald B. Ratcliffe. Have no idea who that is? Check your email!! All students recieved an email explaining the re-naming of the center and informing us of who this fella is.
Still confused? Come down tomorrow to the Founder’s Day commemoration to celebrate the Ratcliffe Community Center dedication!

Some of you may remember the post I made last year about the Deer running across the parking lot. I will stick behind my story. But how many of you have actually stopped to look at the wildlife here? Every night, I take a walk around the campus to clear my mind and talk with my boyfriend. This weekend, we ran into two of many creatures here at Stevenson. So the next time you get bored, seriously, go on a nature walk!!
