The RA Experience August 18, 2009

Posted by Marina in : Fall 2009 , trackback

Aside from the long days of sessions and training to take care of our residents, we have fun.  Nobody bonds like we do – meaning, ResLife.  For the past week and a half, I have gotten a chance to know the people I call my staff – the people I can run to when I’m having a problem or when I need help with a simple noise complaint.  But no matter how long we have to sit and learn how to become an RA – we have fun.  I am writing this blog to share one of my favorite memories of 2009 RA Training.  The marshmallow tower contest.  Yes – beware.

Now even though my group did not win tallest, or sturdiest, or even staff favorite –

it’s got spirit.

I must admit, coming into this whole RA experience, I was SO nervous.  Sometimes I feel like I’m socially awkward or that people aren’t going to like me.  But the ResLife staff hasn’t made me feel that way at all.  We all work together to get things done, and at the end of the day – we all depend on one another.  I am incredibley grateful to be an RA.

One of my other favorite things we’ve done is our B-Boards.  It really gives me a chance to make my residents feel welcome and show my creative side!

Now that I have all of that out – Come visit me!  I am the Western Run 3rd Floor RA – All freshmen building.  My hall?  ALL GIRLS.  This should be a GREAT year!
