Root Beer floats, that is. Being the first day of class, the Student Activities Office decided to cool down our students with a refreshing float on the way to class. This awesome refreshment table was set up from 11-1 in the Rockland lobby area. Not only did they have root beer floats – they also had ORANGE SODA floats. Holla!!!!! And lets not forget the free Student Activities mug that came with it!
Oh oh oh – and pencil in Make Your Own Street Signs for tomorrow, at the Greenspring campus from 11am – 2pm.

The sign speaks for itself!!!!!! Not only was this kick-off carnival enough fun for anyone, but i spotted a gentleman outside of rockland entertaining himself and some bystanders, too.

New Student Move-In August 24, 2009

New Student Move-In Day: Waking up early. Waiting for students. Smiling, exciting faces. Nervous parents. Smile Crew and ResLife. Cart races and hallway paces. Meet and greets. Our first floor meeting. Icebreakers. Lots (and Lots) of food. Convocation. BBQ. Fun bus rides with new friends. Color cordinated staffs. Roommates. Family.
New Student Move-In Day: The first day of the rest of your college life.

It seems as if all of our hardwork and dedication to training has FINALLY paid off. The students are in and settled in there new community here at Stevenson University. The day was filled with food, prizes, a hilarious guest speaker, and the welcoming of the Class of 2013. We, as the SU community, are honored and proud to have them here.
My residents, I must say – are the coolest kids around. I will never forget the bus ride over to convocation with them. We ended up making my RED colored paper into a paper airplane. Maybe a little inappropriate – but a great time. This year is going to be awesome.
So once again, Congratulations to the class of 2013!!

(they did alot of walking that day) :]
Explore Beyond SU August 24, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fall 2009 , add a commentBeyond the shuffle and the daily grind here at Stevenson, there is a whole other world that surrounds us. Our professors talk to us about life after college and how your time here will effect your entire life – this may all be true, however it is not what I am talking about. I’m talking about getting out of the classroom and the dorm room and exploring the world off-campus. Don’t get me wrong, our numerous clubs and organizations work very hard to provide us with endless programs, but sometimes it’s good to get away!
I have recently dedicated a page on this site to “Things To Do – Baltimore.” CHECK IT OUT! There are so many things to do around here!!!!! Not to mention, the Student Activities Office provides discounts to students for some, if not most of the activities. There is also a link included for “Free Stuff to Do Around Baltimore.” Chyeahhh Boi.
Until then – check out my pictures from the Baltimore Zoo!!!! (I bought discounted tickets from the Student Activities Office :] )

The RA Experience August 18, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fall 2009 , 1 comment so farAside from the long days of sessions and training to take care of our residents, we have fun. Nobody bonds like we do – meaning, ResLife. For the past week and a half, I have gotten a chance to know the people I call my staff – the people I can run to when I’m having a problem or when I need help with a simple noise complaint. But no matter how long we have to sit and learn how to become an RA – we have fun. I am writing this blog to share one of my favorite memories of 2009 RA Training. The marshmallow tower contest. Yes – beware.
Now even though my group did not win tallest, or sturdiest, or even staff favorite –
it’s got spirit.

I must admit, coming into this whole RA experience, I was SO nervous. Sometimes I feel like I’m socially awkward or that people aren’t going to like me. But the ResLife staff hasn’t made me feel that way at all. We all work together to get things done, and at the end of the day – we all depend on one another. I am incredibley grateful to be an RA.
One of my other favorite things we’ve done is our B-Boards. It really gives me a chance to make my residents feel welcome and show my creative side!

Now that I have all of that out – Come visit me! I am the Western Run 3rd Floor RA – All freshmen building. My hall? ALL GIRLS. This should be a GREAT year!
It’s Been A While August 11, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fall 2009 , 1 comment so farSo it ’s been a while since I last found the time to actually sit down and write something. Well – here I am! My summer has officially come to an end, and I am back at SU training to become an RA!! It’s extremely exciting. Also exciting – New Student move in day is NEXT THURSDAY!!!! Yay!
)
Anywho, nothing really new is going on in my life here at SU. I’m learning alot of really awesome things in training. Like the Coupe on the Greenspring campus is now going to be a Meditation and Prayer center, instead of a “hang out room.” Also – Jazzman’s is getting moved to the School of Business and they are expanding the grocery store in Avalon! So I can’t say nothing is going on – just nothing yet!
However, there are so many great events to come. I am going to post a Calendar from the Student Activities office that is not complete, but has some awesome stuff already planned for all the students here at SU!! For right now, I am just going to post the August calendar – which may be a little bare – so make sure to check your RA’s bulletin board when you get in and settled! (I am so excited for new students).
