New Students: GET READY! May 19, 2009
Posted by Marina in : General , add a commentNow that we are all done with finals and our grades have been released, it’s your turn to get everything done so you can get started here at SU! You know what I’m talking about, PLACEMENT TESTING. Yes, the deadline is quickly approaching – June 6tH! SU offers weekly testing and Saturday morning testing. Which also means – these tests need to be taken ASAP if you were sent information on them, stating that you need them done! Some of you did well enough on your SAT’s so you will not need to come do our silly tests! Not sure? Call the admissions office! They are just so FABULOUS. If you know for sure that you need to take your placement tests, follow the instructions on your letter and visit our homepage www.stevensonuniversity.edu.
I hope you are all enjoying the end of your Senior year!! Live it up while you can – and most importantly – be excited to start your future at SU!
Stevenson On The News!!!! May 13, 2009
Posted by Marina in : General , add a commentThat’s right! You heard me – Stevenson”s very own Art Taguding was on WJZ13 yesterday morning. I know most people found out by the email that was sent to them, however – I woke up and made my usual cup of coffee and sat down to watch Saved By The Bell with my little brother before he had to go to school. I started flipping through some channels and there he was, ART!! He was talking about the current job market and how he feels Stevenson students are prepared even in these bad economoic times. I couldn’t do anything but watch with my mouth, wide open!! Needless to say, it was an awesome experience for SU and Art
It was also pretty cool for me. I met Mr. Taguding the first day I moved into Stevenson, his daughter Lauren was my suitemate. He’d come in and hang out with her and help her with things and he was ALWAYS very friendly. And of course, he always stopped me to ask how I was doing. He’s one of those genuine people, he takes his job to heart. So if you ever need anything from Career HQ – I recommend Art Taguding

Book Buyback Blues? May 7, 2009
Posted by Marina in : General , add a commentSo you finished your exams and your last stop for the summer is the bookstore, to sell back the books you paid so much for. You stand in line at the back of the door and wait patiently. Then, suddenly, it’s your turn. You carry your books a little higher to sit them on the counter and proceed to say “I accept cash.” The clerk scans in all your books and says, “I’m sorry, we aren’t accepting any of these back.”
This is the second semester that this has happened to me. And I’m sure I’m not the only one with lost hopes. So for those of you frustrated and in the same position I am in, and for those of you entering next year that may face this problem – I have an explanation from the bookstore manager herself.
According to her, when the bookstore has bought back its limit, they no longer accept the books. Which is understandable. However, the bookstore works with a company that buys back books for University’s across the United States. Meaning, any books used specially for Stevenson you can forget about trying to sell it! BUT – there is SOME hope still left. She also said that if you didn’t have luck with this buyback, starting in about two weeks, the book store will be starting their daily buy backs. AND – it would be a good idea to call ahead of time to make sure they can purchase back your books.
And of course, you can always save the books til next year to sell them to other students. OR – sell them on eBay, Amazon, Craig’s list, etc..
I hope this information has been helpful! And I’m sorry if any of you are stuck in this position with me.
MAY DAY!! May 1, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , add a commentDid you say – May Day?
May Day was AMAZINGLY FUN. Yeah, I just said that. Aside from standing in line for my very first Caricature, there were so many things to do! A velcro wall – A rock wall – A giant inflatable obstacle course – and GREAT FOOD…BBQ Style
)
Although I was late to class, it was a great time. It was also Tylor’s 18th birthday so it was exciting to just get out and go to an event, Stevenson style! Even WILD STANG was there to celebrate the glorious festivities of what is, May Day.
So – if you missed it, here are a FEW pictures of the action. And boy… did you miss out! Hopefully they have this same event next year, because it was truley a blast.
