FUN IN THE SWEET SUMMER AIR!

Last night, numerous small events were going on in the Suites Quad..  There was a Slip n’ Slide!  Bubble wands!  Rita’s Ice (and my fave, ice pops), Water guns and Balloons! AND – my ultimate love in life, Tie Dying!!!!!!!!

There were so many people out in the quad last night that the only shirt sleft by 7:10 were 2XL.  Haha, woops!  But anyway, here are a few pictures from last night.  In my opinion – it was the best event held here at Stevenson, by far, so far. :o )

Extra CASH? April 28, 2009

It’s that time of year again – the end of the semester is fastly approaching and this 90 degree weather isn’t going anywhere soon.  Although their are tons of events about to come up (like the end of the year bash), these events do not just hand out cash!  However – for those of you who need a new bikini or an oil change, your opporutnity is coming!  The Stevenson University bookstore will be buying back your used books on the following dates:

May 6th – May 7th = 9am to 7pm

May 8th = 9am to 4pm

May 9th = 9am to Noon

The bookstore will hand you cold hard cash for your used books!  Pretty cool, huh?  However – there are alternatives to selling books back to the bookstore.  In need of more cash?  Post a sign letting students know what books you are selling on a bulletin board around campus – and see if you can hook someone! This stimulates the underground student economy!  I know, it’s awesome. :o )

So like I said – need that extra cash to get your summer days goin’?  Sell your old books!  Seriously – who needs books?

A Little Bit About My Week April 23, 2009

Posted by Marina in : General , add a comment

First off – it’s been CRAZY!  I know a lot of us around here have been feeling the pressures of the year coming to an end.  With big projects and papers due, I can’t seem to find the time to get everything done.  But at the ened of the day, life isn’t about work work work – you gotta have some fun!  So besides being a STAR and working, I’ve done some pretty cool things this week.

Tuesday night was Open Mic Night at Pandini’s.  It turned into a “one man show” but the kid was great!  Of course, I never caught his name – I was busy stuffing my face with a calzone.. mmm.  They sang many great favorites – it’s always great when acoustic music is involved.

And then there was yesterday.  My friend Amanda and I went to Rockalnd for lunch and in the spirit of Earth Day, Kellogg’s was here at Stevenson giving away free samples of some of their very healthy and vegetarian like cuisines.  To be completely honest, it smelled horrid!  I never got the guts to try it, but they had other Kashi products present, which are ALWAYS delicious!  (Expensive, but delicious!).

And then last night, it became very real that we leave… SOON.  I move out, 5:30 on Tuesday, May 4.  Woop Woop!  I am stoked to start my new summer job, but I will miss you SU!

Way To Go Men’s Lacrosse! April 17, 2009

Yesterday, Thursday April 17 – Our very own Stevenson University Men’s Lacrosse Team beat Wesley College, 19-4.

Their record?  14-0.

It was an AMAZING GAME.  And not to mention, my very first lacrosse game, ever.  It was fantastic!  With finals coming up and teachers deciding to throw around papers and end of the year projects, it was a great time for the students here to gather and support our number one team.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  Although, I did get a tiny bit sun burnt – but when your complextion is naturally white with a hint of pink, you tend to burn like a lobster!  Anyway, I got the coolest free towel that I AM going to hang on my wall.  School spirit rocks.  Not to mention I went to the game with my friend forever Amanda.  Needless to say, we didn’t understand much of anything that was going on – but it was still so much fun.  So if you haven’t taken a day away from studying and all that, DO IT!  Get out their!  Not only will you give your brain a rest, you’ll have a fabulous time supporting your peers!

Who Says You Can’t Play With Your Food? April 15, 2009

Tonight, Residence Life and the Susquehanna Hall Council set up a FABULOUS Ice Cream and Cupcake decorating social kind of thing.  It was great ice cream! :o )  Not to mention I saw some really really cute cupcakes done up by my peers.  I took my girls with me and my overnight Erin (who is just a doll) and we sat in the Avalon Community Center and ate our ice cream and had girl talk.  I swear ice cream can save lives! :o )  Sorry if you missed it – better luck next time.

This week is Multicultural Reach here at Stevenson University.  And if one thing is for sure, even for a smaller university, we have alot of different peopel coming from a lot of different backgrounds.  So why not check out the cultures of your peers?  If you can’t make it to any of the really neat events this week, check out the Art exhibit or even the book display!!  Being well educated about various cultures can aid a person not only in life but it can create uniqueness when applying for jobs.

I will def. be at the Polynesian Dancers event on Thursday!!  Heck, why not?

President’s Celebration Re-Cap April 10, 2009

So it’s no surprise to anyone that I indeed went to the President’s Celebration and had a BLAST!  I didn’t go as a STAR, for the day I sat back and decided to blend in the crowd and be Tylor’s guest.

My best friend from my high school also attended.  But aside from being another face in the crowd, I was overwhelmed to see just how many people were in attendance! Over 1000 people!! WOAH!  Needless to say, the stands and seats in the gym were packed and the Mustang Crew was full of smiles and warm welcomes.  Now, although I already go to Stevenson, I was impressed.  Good job SU for putting on a FABULOUS celebration, with great cake! :o )

CHECK OUT SOME PICS!

Sand Volleyball?!?!?! HECK YES!!

Wouldn’t you love to get back from a stressful days of classes and be able to kick of your shoes and play in the sand?  WELL NOW YOU CAN!  Tuesday, the workers here at SU uncovered the sand volleyball court and within HOURS there were guys and girl on the court rippin’ it up.  As you pass by, you almost always trip over flip flops and shirts and anythingn else they can leave on the side lines.

SO – had a bad day? It’s warm outside?  Well get out there!  There’s always someone there to play a game or two with you ;)
