My First Overnighter Experience :o) February 28, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events, General , add a commentThe first thing I noticed about my overnighter Kristen was her pink boat shoes. I instantly fell in love with them and couldn’t help myself, I had to find them and buy them for myself. Needless to say, later in the night, she told me where to get them and I went – I simply could not resist!
But back to Kristen and how awesomely amazing she was. She was the perfect overnighter and I am so thankful to have had her stay with me. I went and picked her up in the admissions office to kick off her night, too bad we ended up right where we started an hour later to pick up another overnighter Melissa. Kristen and I instantly hit it off, and between girl talk with all the girls and her and I just talking – she turned out to be a great person (with good style). We had yummy food at Rockland and played fuseball/pingpong in avalon. It was a blast. I just loved having someone new around!!! Needless to say, we were exhausted. Between our long day at school and my illness, we both passed right on out.
The next morning we woke up and I had to send her off with Chelsea. I felt sad because even though our time together was short, she is my new friend. But I hope she had a fabulous day in classes, as I had to leave for a doctors visit. boooooooo.
Monday is a new day and a new overnighter
)!!!
Have a great rest of the weekend SU!
Mardi Gras was Rockin’ in Rockland February 24, 2009

HAPPY MARDI GRAS! I know what you’re thinking – what in the world is that? Well I was asking myself the same thing tonight as I walked into the sea of green and purple Margi Gras balloons through Rockland. Tonight, three schools were featured in our very own Rockland Marketplace. The image above – a ticket where you can vote for your favorite cusine! Stevenson, McDaniel College, and CCBC’s chefs were represented in the dining hall. They all came hungry and ready to win. The apple cobbler by McDaniel looked very scrumptous, but in the end, I ended up with shrimp pizza and a DELICIOUS cupcake!! MMM, and my all time favorite – blue water haha, better known as Ion Water
). I wonder who the winner will be… will SU end up ontop? We shall see! Too bad they didn’t have the “new years” cake, with the baby inside of it, apparently on Mardi Gras if you find the baby inside it’s good luck for a year – my mom gets one every year!!!
BINGO was a BLAST February 23, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , add a commentNot only did it raise money for something so amazing, it was so so so much fun! I went with my friend Maria and her sister Andrea – we left empty handed. However, it was a blast and I love love love Bingo. I told my best friend back home about it as I explained how it makes me feel like an old woman!! (bahaha).
You will see me at every BINGO night SU has to offer for the next three years!!! Which reminds me – I can’t remember if I wrote this or not, but I will be the RA on the third floor of Western Run next year – the Wellness and Substance Free floor. Which I will totally write more about later.
But on an ending note.. I took this snapshot of our very own President Manning who showed up for BINGO – on a friday night!!! WOOO HOO!

Spring Was in the Air February 17, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , add a commentLast weekend, the weather here in Owings Mills was absolutely beautiful. But unfortunately, nothing was going on. So my love and I decided to take an adventure to the Inner Harbor, and man was it incredible!
The breeze was slight and the heat was on. So Instead of driving and wasting gas, we took the metro for only 6.20. Can’t get any better than that! The metro ride was interesting, to say the least… but saved gas and money. When we got to the inner harbor, the only thing on my mind was of course, Shopping. I didn’t buy anything but I’m always looking.
) I loved walking around holding hands, just being able to enjoy each others company and the sweet spring air. After shopping, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and man was it good! I recommend the nachos to ANYBODY!! And if you have never been to the inner harbor, you definitely need to take a day to go. There is shopping, food, the aquarium, the harbor (of course), camden yards, and so much more!! Even if you don’t have a significant other, go with your friends! I guarantee you’ll have fun.
But now the brisk winter air is here, and I’m not looking forward to going outside in the frigid wind. I just want spring to be here!!
Valentines Weekend :) February 16, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events, General , add a commentwas absolutely amazing. I had the time of my life.
Thursday – I was surprised with roses from my Daddy
Friday during the day, Tylor and I went to our fave spot to just chill and be us – BWW.
) Friday night was girls night with the best friend. We went shopping for the hottest dress ever and ate so so so much food. lol. Not to mention, spending time with the father and the brother was so much fun, as always.
Saturday was Valentines Day… the one and only. I started my day off in the best mood ever. Tylor surprised me with flowers and chocolate at my front door before leaving for the Indoor Percussion and Guard competition at Brunswick High School. Seeing my high school perform without me was heartbreaking, but so much fun at the same time. I loved taking Tylor because he was interested! Yes I know, he’s a great catch. Later in the evening we went to dinner at the Macaroni Grill – which was amazing!! Best cheesecake ever, shared with me love muffin
) And the gift giving, was incredible. I can’t ever thank him enough for everything he does for me
He is, the most amazing boyfriend in the entire world. And I know he’s reading this… and I love everything you did for me. The jewelry was way over anything than I could have ever expected
Thanks pook. But after dinner, we went shopping and continued home to watch something totally cool on the television. lol.
)
Sunday we woke up early and went shopping for my Dad and Sue’s birthday
We found extreme bargains!!! Like father like daughter, as I like to say. Then we returned home for a relaxing yet homework filled evening.
And now I’m here
I also found out this morning that I made the Dean’s List, so Congrats to every one for a very successful semester!!
I have so much work to do – but look for a blog later on tonight!!
SU vs. MU February 12, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Sports , add a commentTonight, Stevenson University’s Men’s Basketball Team played Marymount University.
As you can see – SU defenitely has school spirit!! These gentleman were nice enough to let me take a picture of them so I can share the experience with you.
The stands were full. The tensions were high as most of the game was neck and neck. I got to the game a little before half time – and it was so much fun! It was girls night and we decided to go to the game and relax and show our school spirit. It was my first college basketball game, and I loved it!!! Below are two videos for prospectives/accepted/and regular students to look at if you’re interested in Cheerleading, or Basketball. Enjoy

Something Funny :) February 10, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Uncategorized , add a commentIt’s been a very, very long day. I haven’t had a break from homework in the past 24 hours and I am so exhausted. I went to the office tonight but got sent home by my lovely boss. Apparently I look exhausted too. lol. But anyway, I was walking back from the office and I’m passing Rockland. I called Tylor to talk for five minutes to talk before getting back to my homework. And there it was! A DEER!!
Across the parking lot, over the sidewalk past Pandinis, down the long hill, and through the woods!!!!!! It was the best thing I have seen all day. But at first I though “OMG Marina you are hallucinating, you really are exhausted” but the couple behind me were talking about it and giggling! It’s true – I saw a deer in the middle of Owings Mills! AHHH.
I told Tylor that it was God’s way of telling me I need to take a break
So this was my break, informing you of the first deer I have ever seen here at Stevenson.
Money, Money, Money February 4, 2009
Posted by Marina in : General, Informational Events , add a commentHow to live on a College Students Budget
With the economy worsening every day, I hear people talking about money problems more often. Every time I go home, I hear about budgeting and money and how much I really am spending. So I decided to take my knowledge and write a blog on how to make a little go a long, long way.
It is obvious that being a student here at Stevenson costs a lot of money. We pay a lot of money to go here, so we should take advantage of the things Stevenson has to offer (for our money).
Food
Your parents spend a hefty chunk of change on a meal plan that will feed a student for a year plus flex dollars that provide money for extra things such as snacks. Utilize this! There is no need to go out to dinner with your friends every day, or even every week. Try to limit the amount of money you spend on extra food for the room. Like I said, food is available to you all the time through your meal plan – so who needs a ton extra in their room? A good tip if you have good roommates is to find out what you all eat/drink in common, and then share the responsibility of replenishing these items. It will save you money in the long run! The best thing you can do – Use your meal plan!
Room Supplies
You need to keep your room clean. No one wants to live with pigs. Everyone should take turns cleaning, which means everyone should contribute something when it comes to cleaning supplies. This also goes for items such as paper towels and toilet paper. Also – sharing is caring, so help each other out. J
Shopping
I know this may sound crazy from someone obsessed with shopping, but you do not need to go shopping. For real. Only buy the things you need. And trust me; you don’t need that new coach purse or those seven jeans. Sometimes it’s okay to go buy something new for yourself – everyone wants to feel good. But obsessive shopping and blowing your money could result in a financial tight hold – and that’s no fun for anybody.
Gas
Don’t waste money on pointless trips. If it’s one thing I have learned this year, it’s don’t waste gas on going home if you don’t need to go home. Now, of course I live over an hour away – but you get the point. Also, don’t constantly drive to and from both campuses. Those miles really add up. Use the shuttle. Yes, it can get a little crammed and it doesn’t exactly fit point blank to your schedule – but it does save money (and your car mileage). If you feel as if you can’t ride the shuttle - car pull. And if you are close to someone who lives near you – car pull! Saving money will help you in the long run… and your car.
School Supplies
There’s no need to buy all new school supplies every single year. Reuse the supplies you already have. For example, I tape colored post it’s to the front of my notebooks and label them. And then the next year, I just change post its! See Dad, I can be thrifty! And when it comes to books, well, see my other blog on ways to buy books cheap J.
Entertainment
Why do you need to go to the club or the movies and waste money? Stevenson offers free entertainment year round! For example, last night I went and saw Venice Maki play the guitar and sing while I was eating at Pandini’s. Free music? I’m there. Not to mention, events hosted by various student organizations such as MAP and ResLife are going on all the time! In the fall and spring the theatre productions go on. And who can forget the sports? There’s at least a game a week! Not a social butterfly? That’s ok. There are so many clubs that you can join here at SU that will keep you busy all year round. Clubs aren’t for you? Well, me and my girls have a night a week where we watch our favorite shows together and play board games. J
So next time you are digging in the bottom of your purse for change, just think about all the things you can do to save money. Plus, the more you save – the more you have!!
Princess Day - February 3, 2009
Posted by Marina in : General , add a commentwas yesterday.
But none the less, I would like to share my good news
I came home from class and was fiddling around on the computer and an Email popped up that sparked my interest. The title – RA position. Literally, my heart sunk to the floor and I didn’t know whether to be excited or if all my dreams were about to crash hard like the Daytona 500.
So I open it. I read. I jump out of my chair. Screaming for joy. I was offered an RA position in the suites for next year
) Excited much? Yes, Yes I am. Which means I’ll also be rooming with my girls Chelsea and Maria. I’m stoked because they aren’t dirty like my current roommates lol. Woops.
That’s my good news
Also I got a new phone that i don’t know how to work yet, but I’m getting there.
And I’d really like about a foot of snow today
] Life, is… good.
