Inauguration Day the SU Way January 21, 2009
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , trackbackYesterday was history in the making. Millions of people gathered in Washington D.C. to watch President Barack Obama be sworn into the presidential position – and for his long yet very effective speech. Millions watched the very same thing at home, through their television. But those who were fortunate enough, witnessed up close and personal with a properly packaged invitation to one of the many balls that took place last night. Now SU didn’t have a ball pursay – but the party was rockin last night in the Avalon Community Center. There were students everywhere. Playing games, eating food, and celebrating history. Now, I’m no fan of history, but yesterday was pretty cool to say the very least.
I beleive that it’s a step in the right direction. And although not everyone feels the same way about our new president, his ideas and aspirations, but he defines unity, prosperity, and spirit within the greatest nation in the world. He brought people of all colors, ages, and backgrounds together… just like last night here at SU. No matter the feelings or opinions, we have learned to come together and celebrate in the honor of those who are greater than we are, but not greater than the people we have the potential to be.
I say Congratulations to President Barack Obama, and Good Luck.
