To him and his beautiful family, congratulations.
Make America proud, by not only making history by being the first President of color, but by bringing this country out of turmoil from the ruins of George Bush.
The (Exciting) First-Time Experience November 5, 2008

And I’m not talking about those kids voting polls where taking the sticker into your teacher gets you extra credit. I’m talking about the REAL polls.
I went into my old elementary school Sharpsburg Elementary school where I’m registered to vote. I felt so old. Just 10 years ago I went there and here I am today. To say the least I felt old and it was just so surreal – but that feeling was soon defeated with anticipation and excitement. For once I felt the red white and blue pumping through my veins. I love the right to vote and I thank those before me that sacrificed everything for me, a young woman, to be able to vote.
I walked in with my head held high and a grin similiar to that of a 10 year old on the way to recess. I told them my name, my address, my birth date, and finally showed them my ID. I had to sign a piece of paper and before I knew it I was in. I took my electronic card to a judge who put it in the machine and explained what to do. After that it was smooth sailing.
When I was done, I handed her the card, she handed me my sticker and I was on my way. I felt so proud and honored at the same time that my vote could potentially change America, for better or worse.
So to all those first time voters, I congratulate you for getting out there and getting your voice heard!
