Changing Seasons and Coffee October 6, 2008
Posted by Marina in : General , add a commentHello all
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I know I did! I went home Friday after class to see my family and Tylor. There’s nothing more refreshing than going home to loved ones and a full meal on the table. I love the fall. Relaxing, eating, Halloween (is just around the corner!), and most importantly, family. Over the weekend I put out fall decor and Halloween trinkets around the house with my boyfriend, and it’s always so much fun. I love love love fall colors. My favorite color, orange, is a fall color.
And the food – THE FOOD – in fall is amazing. My Dad/Sue made chicken enchiladas Sunday night, and let me tell you – YUM. The food here is amazing, but nothing compares to my Dad’s homemade cooking.
So watching the leaves change and eating consumed my weekend.
I came back late last night and woke up this morning excited to have English class. It’s actually a really fun class. And on my way back I stopped at Jazzman’s to get some coffee. Now, let me tell you something – back home I became addicted to Starbuck’s anything. I love Starbuck’s in the fall – but Jazzman’s coffee is a GREAT substitution. My recommendation? The hot Caramel Latte. It is sooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooood!!!! Try it. I love it. I’m tempted to take one home friday to the Homecoming game. Boonsboro vs. Williamsport. Rival schools. I’m so excited… not to mention… my home school (Boonsboro) is playing my boyfriend’s school (Williamsport). Gotta love fall sports.
Back to the world of homework for me…
I’ll be back later, don’t worry.
What’s for Breakfast at SU? October 2, 2008

I just love crisp fall mornings. Walking to Rockland around 9 to catch something before class, smelling the food a football field away. Smells like *sniff sniff* bacon
I walked in the door, grabbed the new edition of The Villager, poured some apple juice in a cup and sat down for a split second to take it all in. It just always smells so good! Next step: what to eat. They had the usual, the 10 kinds of cereal, the waffles, toast, and bagels, the muffins, donuts, and danishes, and the fresh fruit and yogurt. Fruit and yogurt is ALWAYS good in the morning – so I grabbed a small bowl of that. Now to decide what I’m really going to eat. They had French toast, tater tots (which are actually a wonderful substitute for hash browns) and sizzled ham (which I’m guessing is like bacon). Everything looked good, until I spotted my eye on the omelets. They’re always so delicious and fill me up just right to get me through the day. But of course – every one’s pick of the morning is an omelet. So I stood in line and waited for the chance to give my order.
And there it was. My turkey and cheese omlet. Can you say YUM?!?! They have more things to choose from to put into omlets: ham, turkey, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and cheese. I recommend them to anyone who is an avid egg fan.
I finished my breakfast and walked out the door; with a smile on my face and a pep in my step.
have a wonderful day! Ü
Senior’s Come Out On Top October 1, 2008
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , add a commentÜThe Powderpuff game tonight in the Apartments Quad was that of a great success.
Seniors, of course, came out on top and defeated the Underclassman 12 to 7. But don’t be mistaken; the underclassman put up a good fight in the muddy play pin. Scrambling and running across the field, the Seniors looked like they’d been playing for years! With their black t-shirts and silver glitter paint, you could spot them the whole way down the field in a sea of white, aka underclassman. Even Wild Stang was there for the big game! He went around taking pictures, shaking hands, and of course – giving hugs.
Congrats of a wonderful game and victory Seniors, way to stay on top.
As for the underclassman – better luck next time ladies.
Triple Play Day for Women’s Athletics October 1, 2008
Posted by Marina in : Sports , add a commentThis afternoon, the women’s soccer, field hockey, and volleyball teams played against various division III college teams.
The Women’s Soccer team kicked off the afternoon sports triple play with an intense game against the Catholic University of America. I sat side line with a couple of my girlfriend’s at the Caves complex, and man are those girls good! Stevenson, however, fell short of the win and ended the game at 2-3, Catholic wins at the final. Stevenson’s record is now 8-4.
Soon after came the Women’s field hockey game. At 6:30 Stevenson’s team played against Hood College out of Frederick Maryland (only 25 minutes from my hometown!!!). The field hockey team defeated Hood college 3-1, making their overall season record 6-6.
Last but not least, the Women’s volleyball team ended the night with a Stevenson victory against Mary Washington. The girls at SU made a clean sweep, with a final score of 3-0, the win, and an amazing season record of 18-2!!!!
Good job Ladies
Keep up the amazing work!
Founder’s Day Picnic October 1, 2008
Posted by Marina in : Fun Events , add a commentIt’s almost inevitable, that anytime college students are told there will be “free food and prizes,” that the words to follow will be “I’ll be there.” Today at the Founder’s Day Picnic, the entire Stevenson Community was invited to the Greenspring campus to get some free food and a SU car sticker.
There was a huge turn out for the picnis today, with crowds of people and sports teams waiting in line to eat hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, chips, cookies, and drink some always refreshing lemonade. The food is always delicious.
But the picnic wasn’t all that was going on today. The Wellness Center set up in the Greenspring Quad, raising awareness for Breast Cancer. As well as the dedication ceremony following the picnic, which also had a surprising turn out of students, faculty, and staff.
Tonight there are numerous sporting events and fun activities going on. The women’s soccer team, the field hockey team, and the women’s volleyball team all play today in high hopes of a win. The Upperclassman/Underclassman Powderpuff game is tonight at 7 in the apartments quad. Also at 7 is the Apple Dessert Contest at the Avalon center.
Come join the community and have fun on Founder’s Day
