My No-Meat Progress October 23, 2008

Morgan reminded me that I needed to get on here and give the what’s up with being vegetarian! It’s going wonderful. After awhile you really don’t want meat anymore. My Mom said it would be an easy transition because I don’t eat red meat or pork in the first place. But to tell the truth, I was worried about going vegetarian on campus because I wasn’t sure how well the food accommodates to my “no-meat” needs. But the truth is – they have done an excellent job. I’ve just substituted the meat in my omelets in the morning to vegetables – and added a side of fruit! They have had tater tots every morning this week so I’m in tater tot heaven. Today they were smashed up a little and they were INCREDIBLE! Man. Last night I had a Vegetarian Quesadilla from the other campus – talk about delicious! And I got my protein through the black beans so that’s helpful. I have also cut out soda from my diet and I’m in the process of eating less junk food as well. I think it’ll be a good transition for me; a healthy transition.
But, I must admit – I will be slipping up this weekend. You see, before I took this challenge I forgot about Tylor’s show… which means Marina gets to go to dinner after the show to her favorite place in the world – Buffalo Wild Wings. Wings, are by far, my favorite food. So instead of sitting there are paying 8 dollars for a salad I don’t want, I’m going to give into the meat pressure of society and pay my 8 dollars for wings. But until Thanksgiving – that’ll be my first and last slip-up. :)
So that is my progress
And I’d recommend it to anyone. Being vegetarian doesn’t necesarily mean you are starving and living off of nothing. There are A TON of options. Exploration is good.
